A platform for applied research, social innovation, policy dialogue, and knowledge exchange that transforms evidence into action for communities living on the frontlines of crisis. Amid the overlapping challenges facing the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, including protracted armed conflict, Ebola outbreaks, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, climate-related shocks, and recurring humanitarian emergencies, CPA’s Research & Innovation Lab operates as a dynamic Think-Do-Tank committed to turning adversity into opportunity. By bridging rigorous research with practical, community-led innovation, the Lab designs, tests, and scales locally grounded solutions that strengthen socio-economic resilience, foster social cohesion, expand inclusive finance, create sustainable livelihoods, and unlock the potential of vulnerable populations. Through this work, we help communities across South Kivu and North Kivu not only recover from crisis, but build the capacity, confidence, and institutions needed to adapt, prosper, and shape a more peaceful and resilient future.
Our capacity-building services cover a broad spectrum of humanitarian, development, governance, and private sector fields, including peacebuilding and conflict transformation, humanitarian action and coordination, protection and safeguarding, child protection, gender and inclusion, prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response, human rights, research and data analysis, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL), project design and management, proposal and report writing, organizational development, leadership and governance, financial management and grants management, compliance and donor regulations, procurement and supply chain management, logistics, risk management, climate-smart agriculture, food security and livelihoods, environmental sustainability, disaster risk reduction, resilience programming, entrepreneurship, economic empowerment, youth and women’s empowerment, community health, WASH, digital innovation, and community resilience.
Guided by experienced academic and industry experts, our training combines practical skills with evidence-based approaches, equipping individuals, organizations, and institutions with the knowledge and tools needed to improve performance, strengthen leadership, and deliver sustainable impact.
Through workshops, specialized training, coaching, applied research, technical assistance, and mentorship, participants gain the technical expertise and strategic perspective needed to address complex challenges and drive meaningful change.
By investing in local talent, humanitarian and development professionals, civil society actors, public institutions, and the private sector, while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, ethical leadership, and lifelong learning, we are building stronger institutions and empowering a new generation of leaders, researchers, humanitarian practitioners, and development professionals committed to advancing social justice, resilience, sustainable development, and lasting peace.
